Hello dear designers!
I guess that it might be intresting for you know a little bit more about "behind the scenes" of idrawfashion. Let me share how every single fashion illustration on the site was created and the steps that it goes through before you see it...
STAGE 1 - THE FASHION SKETCH
I have a list with ideas for future fashion drawing tutorial. Some of the things there are my ideas, but mostof them are suggested by the users of the site, leaving a comment bellow the articles. So I pick one that I find especially inspiring in that particular moment and make a rough sketch of how I want the final fashion illustration to look. It is going to stand in the end of the article and it will illustrate how using the instructions your sketches will improve.
STAGE 2 - WORK IN PROGRESS
On a new sheet of paper I trace the sketch. I need to have clean, beautiful lines and no mistakes. I make the tracing with a light brown pencil, since I don't want any smudges and dirty spots because of the graphite. I cover the whole area with plain color and then add the shadows and highlights. The technique I use to color is the same as in "How to draw skin shadows" tutorial. The media is markers for base + color pencils.
STAGE 3- THE FINISHED ILLUSTRATION
When I'm ready with the illustration I scan it and clean the white spaces in Photoshop. I usually don't manipulate the images further that this. To finish this illustration took me about 5 hours, but some may take up to 9.
You don't need to rush with your fashion sketches. Take your time to make it beautiful and pay attention to details. Small details make it perfect.
This illustration is made for the "How to draw corset" tutorial that's about to be published. Stay tuned!
